Amigurumi octopus free pattern Adorabilis

Amigurumi octopus free pattern adorabilis.

Hi Hook Ninjas! One week ago while checking around I read in boredpanda the most adorable and cute news about an octopus species that scientists are expecting to call "Adorabilis". The scientific name will possibly be Opisthoteuthis Adorabilis and it is a little octopus of 17cm that lives in deep waters 1,476ft (450m). I felt that I immediately needed to make an inspired version, this fella is awesome!

This amigurumi octopus is a free pattern for beginners, a simple and fast pattern. You will practice how to use different stitches for Amigurumi and how to add simple details to your crochet projects. This is a an easy level pattern. You can complete it in aproximately 2 hours.

You can use this Amigurumi Adorabilis octopus as a keychain, as a charm for backpack, or simple as decoration for your desk or room.

Materials

For this free amigurumi pattern you will need:
  • Coral yarn suitable for a 4mm hook
  • 1 pair of black amigurumi plastic eyes of 12mm (you can use black eyes or any eyes of your preference)
  • Fiberfill stuffing
  • This is a 2 Star pattern. 2 star pattern

Hook size

For this pattern I used a customized Clover hook of 4mm. Read my other article "Which crochet hook should I choose?" For more info about materials and differences between crochet hooks. Please note that the bigger the hook, the bigger the holes between stitches in your Amigurumi.

TENTACLES

The tentacles are made in the same way you make petals for a flower: [Ch3, skip 2 sts and sl st in next st] around. This creates the holes or spaces that we are going to use to create the tentacles. [3dc in the first space we made (ch3), ch2, sc in each of those 2 sts, make 3dc and finish with slst] Repeat this around.

You should have 14 tentacles.

Here is a short Youtube video showing how to make them.
