HEAD

With brown yarn:

Round 1 = St 6 into a m.r (6 sts)
Round 2 = [2sc in next st] around (12 sts)
Round 3 = [2sc in next st, sc in next st.] around (18 sts)
Round 4 = [2sc in next st, sc in next 2 sts] around (24 sts)
Round 5 = [2sc in next st, sc in next 3 sts] around (30 sts)
Round 6 = [2sc in next st, sc in next 4 sts] around (36 sts)
Round 7 = [2sc in next st, sc in next 5 sts] around (42 sts)
Round 8 = [2sc in next st, sc in next 6 sts] around (48 sts)
Round 9 = [2sc in next st, sc in next 7 sts] around (54 sts)
Round 10 = [2sc in next st, sc in next 8 sts] around (60 sts)

Here starts the face, we will be crocheting with two color yarns, White and Brown.

How to follow this part of the pattern:

Following this part of the pattern is really easy, what you see written is literally how you should switch between yarns. If you still have difficulties understanding it you will find a graphic chart below.

For example:

---->White [sc in next 18 sts] ---->Brown [sc in next 42 sts] (60 sts)

This will mean that first you start with the white yarn making single crochet in the next 18 stitches. After that you switch to the brown yarn and continue by making single crochet in the next 42 stitches. The total of stitches you should have correspond to 60 which is the whole diameter of your Amigurumi.

Round 11 to 18 =

---->White [sc in next 18 sts] ---->Brown [sc in next 42 sts] (60 sts)

Round 19 =

--->Brown [sc in next st] ---->White [sc in next 16 sts]--->Brown [sc in next st] ---->Brown [sc in next 42 sts] (60 sts)

Round 20 =

--->Brown [sc in next 2 sts] ---->White [sc in next 14 sts]--->Brown [sc in next 2 sts] ---->Brown [sc in next 42 sts] (60 sts)

Round 21 =

--->Brown [sc in next 3 sts] ---->White [sc in next 12 sts]--->Brown [sc in next 3 sts] ---->Brown [sc in next 42 sts] (60 sts)

Round 22 =

--->Brown [sc in next 4 sts] ---->White [sc in next 3 sts]--->Brown [sc in next 4 sts] ---->White [sc in next 3 sts] --->Brown [sc in next 4 sts]--->Brown [sc in next 42 sts] (60 sts)

Round 23 =

--->Brown [sc in next 4 sts] ---->White [sc in next 3 sts]--->Brown [sc in next 4 sts] ---->White [sc in next 3 sts] --->Brown sc in next 4 sts --->Brown [sc in next 42 sts] (60 sts)

End of Face.

From now on we will start decreasing:

With brown yarn.

Round 24 = [Inv.Dec in next st, sc in next 8 sts] around (54 sts)
Round 25 = [Inv.Dec in next st, sc in next 7 sts] around (48 sts)
Round 26 = [Inv.Dec in next st, sc in next 6 sts] around (42 sts)
Round 27 = [Inv.Dec in next st, sc in next 5 sts] around (36 sts)

Begin stuffing the face. Place safety eyes.

Round 28 = [Inv.Dec in next st, sc in next 4 sts] around (30 sts)
Round 29 = [Inv.Dec in next st, sc in next 3 sts] around (24 sts)
Round 30 = [Inv.Dec in next st, sc in next 2 sts] around (18 sts)
Round 30 = [Inv.Dec in next st, sc in next st] around (12 sts)

Fasten off leaving a tail to sew later to the body.

LEGS (MAKE 4)

With brown yarn.
Our Alpaca will be standing, therefore we will make four legs that will be crocheted together later forming the body.

IMPORTANT!

Do not fasten all the legs as we will continue crocheting in rounds. Leave the last leg you make unfastened.

Round 1 = St 6 into a m.r (6 sts)
Round 2 = [2sc in next st] around (12 sts)
Round 3 = [2sc in next st, sc in next st.] around (18 sts)
Round 4 to 7 = [sc around] (18 sts)

Instructions for joining the feet

We will join the four legs starting in pairs. Use a tapestry needle then sew the inner parts of the legs together in the inner 6 stitches.
Repeat that with the other pair of legs.
At this stage you should have two pairs of legs joined, to join the four legs together start crocheting single crochet in spiral. You should be left with 36 stitches which will be now called Round 1 of the body.
Finish joining the legs by sewing the center of the legs together with a tapestry needle.

BODY (continuing after joining legs)

Side view of the amigurumi alpaca.

Round 2 to 7 = [sc around] (36 sts)
Round 8 = [Inv. Dec in next st, sc in next 3 sts] Around (28 sts)
Round 9 = [Inv. Dec in next st, sc in next 2 sts] Around (21 sts)
Round 10 = [Inv. Dec in next st, sc in next st] Around (12 sts)
Round 8 = [Inv. Dec] Around (6 sts)
Fasten off, weave the ends.

EARS

Round 1 = St 6 into a m.r (6 sts)
Round 2 = Sc around (6 sts)
Round 3 = [2sc in next st] Around (12 sts)
Round 4 to 5 = Sc around (12 sts)
Fasten off, sew to the head.

TAIL

Chain 10, sc in each of the 10 sts, ch 1, turn. Sc in each st.
Fasten off and sew to the body

HOW TO MAKE THE GLASSES:

To make the glasses I designed a printable chart that you can download from here. Print it in a thick paper and cut it as shown in the picture.

If you don't have a printer you can always trace the shape in a white paper using the reflection of your screen or draw a pair of glasses of your fancy. (Harry Potter anyone?)

HOW TO MAKE THE ALPACA HAIRY?

To make an amigurumi hairy is very simple: Take a hard brush (metal brushes work well) and brush the surface of the Amigurumi you want to make hairy in all directions. It is that simple!
