How to plant potatoes?

Why is it important to plant your own food?
Because in that way you are sure that you are eating nutritious, good quality and most importantly CLEAN food.

Market and food mafia have been manipulating our food for such a long time that people seem not to care anymore about what they put in their mouth. Here in Finland people are increasing in size more and more. Fast food, and processed food is cheaper and become the norm in the supermarkets. Good unprocessed raw products and vegetables that are not imported gene manipulated or sprayed are expensive and not even found in all stores.
This led us to try with our own small scale farming.

Right now in this time of the year the soil is still alittle cold for most vegetables but  we learned that it is not too cold for potatoes of all kinds!

How to plant potatoes:

1. Prepare a spot where you can have sunlight and moisture. To make the soil more fertile you can work creating layers of many goodies:

1. Adding newspaper in the bottom
2. Continuing with leaves, grass and many other materials that can create compost, evaporate decompose and generate nutrients.
3. Cow poop. One layer. You can ask local farmers or go around picking them around the farms :)
4. Soil (at least 10 cm)
6. Sand. Potatoes need it. You can blend the soil with the sand .

Ready to plant!

1. Create lines of app 5-10 cm deep

2. Put the pre-germinated potatoes with 20-30 cm between them.

3. Cover the potatoes with soil and place a cloth in the top

Easy! This kind of plantation needs water regularly but no more fertilizer. Hopefully they will grow large enough to eat at midsummer. Fingers crossed!

Have a great day!
